Why do you need an Affidavit for a Child Support Grant?

Affidavits are legally binding documents where individuals provide sworn statements attesting to the truthfulness of the information provided.

When it comes to applying for the SASSA grants, an affidavit helps ensure that the applicant’s identity and situation are truthfully and accurately represented, which is necessary for the grant approval process.

Since underage kids do not have the authority to apply themselves, their guardian or main caregiver needs to give a detailed explanation about who they are, their relationship with the child, and other important details before the grant money is given to the child.

Hence, writing, an affidavit for the SASSA Child Grant is necessary to ensure that the applicant’s identity and circumstances are accurately represented.

At least one affidavit must be submitted by the applicant when applying for the SASSA Child Grant.

The most common Commissioner of Oath you will encounter is a police officer, although many marriage officers, attorneys, accountants, religious leaders, and others are also authorized as Commissioner of Oath.

In cases where you are not the biological guardian of the child, the affidavit needed is one that explains your connection to the child and why you are responsible for their care.

For example, foster parents must explain the fostering situation, while grandparents taking care of the child must describe their relationship with the child and why they are responsible for their care.
